Our Story

In 1966, my grandmother made the courageous journey from Ecuador to New York City, bringing with her the vibrant heart of her homeland. Despite adapting to life in a new country, she held onto Ecuadorian culture with fierce pride.

Growing up, our home was filled with the rich aromas of traditional dishes, the rhythms of Ecuadorian music, and countless stories of her homeland.  Through food, music, and a deep love for Ecuador, my grandparents  passed down their heritage to us, grounding us in our roots and reminding us that home is not just a place—it's a feeling carried in our hearts.

From the age of 10, my grandparents’ love for Ecuador inspired me to explore the country’s rich culture and history firsthand. Each visit back to Ecuador was a chance to uncover more of the vibrant traditions, landscapes, and stories that shaped our family. Their dedication to keeping our heritage alive sparked my own journey of discovery, leading me through the bustling markets, historic towns, and stunning landscapes that define Ecuador. Over the years, these experiences have deepened my connection to my roots, allowing me to truly appreciate the beauty and depth of our culture.

My grandmother’s farewell to her family was a bittersweet moment that marked the start of a brave new chapter. Leaving behind everything familiar, she embraced the unknown with a heart full of hope and memories that she would carry forever. Saying goodbye to loved ones, she promised to keep Ecuador alive in her heart and to share its beauty, warmth, and traditions in her new home. Her journey was not only one of distance but of courage, resilience, and the quiet strength to hold on to her heritage while embracing a new world.

With their spirit of generosity and love, we carry forward that legacy at Casa Rodriguez. Here, we warmly share the beauty and flavors of Ecuador, offering guests an unforgettable, culturally enriching experience.
